It will now open on July 27 after the president claimed he had secured a \u201cmuch better deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was able to cut a MUCH BETTER DEAL for America, and by so doing, will be allowing the new and spectacular Gordie Howe International Bridge, spanning Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, to open on July 27th, as scheduled,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapidResponse47\/status\/2075794511209365869\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, \u201cThe original deal made was unacceptable to me! collect 100% of the toll revenue until it recovered the project\u2019s cost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, a source familiar with the negotiations who was not authorized to speak publicly told <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11963455\/gordie-howe-bridge-profit-share\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Global News<\/a> that Canada will receive half of the bridge\u2019s net operating profits, while the remaining 50% will fund a U.S.-run regional development project over the next 15 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo support this opening and ensure that benefits are felt on both sides of the border, Canada and the United States have agreed to a series of cooperative measures focused on toll governance and transparency, as well as investments in the region, including through the establishment of a 15-year economic development fund tied to a portion of profits from bridge operations,\u201d the Canadian government said in a Friday statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority will also work collaboratively with the
