Last week, she told <em>Variety\u2019s<\/em> Marc Malkin that she would be visiting the set. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m going to go [and] see if I can bump around and see if they\u2019ll put me in somewhere,\u201d Garner joked. \u201cMaybe I could be in the background of whatever the \u2018Thriller\u2019 scene is.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut it appears Garner was just playing coy. The set photos, published on Tuesday by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/2026\/07\/21\/jennifer-garner-judy-greer-join-13-going-on-30-reboot-movie-spotted-filming-with-new-star-emily-bader\/\">Just Jared<\/a>, show Garner, Bader and Greer \u2014 who played Jenna\u2019s frenemy, Lucy \u201cTom-Tom\u201d Wyman \u2014 in costume and filming a scene at a building in Santa Monica, Calif. Netflix has not confirmed that they\u2019re reprising their roles, and the project\u2019s logline is being kept under wraps, so it\u2019s unclear how much Garner and Greer factor into the plot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe new \u201c13 Going on 30\u201d is directed by Brett Haley, who most recently helmed Netflix\u2019s adaptation of Emily Henry\u2019s \u201cPeople We Met On Vacation,\u201d starring Bader, which was a massive hit. Taylor Zakhar Perez, Jessica Alba, Adeline Rudolph, Taylor Ortega, Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky will also star in the movie. 2004\u2019s \u201c13 Going on 30,\u201d directed by Gary Winick and also starring Mark Ruffalo, grossed $96 million in theaters and became a cultural touchstone for Millennial audiences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn April, Garner <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/jennifer-garner-judy-greer-last-thing-he-told-me-finale-13-going-on-30-1236713448\/\">told <em>Variety<\/em><\/a> why she championed the reboot 22 years after the original comedy hit theaters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the first of many, many times that someone has brought [a reboot] up to me, so it started to feel like \u2014 I don\u2019t want it to happen without me participating,\u201d she said. \u201cJenna is so close to me, but there\u2019s a musical [adaptation] happening that\u2019s going to be in Toronto. There was a TV show that I was a part of working toward that never really got off the ground. \u2026 And, in this case, of course, I said I was interested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe script and Bader, whom she described as \u201cmagical,\u201d clinched it for her. \u201cI want to watch her do it,\u201d Garner continued. \u201cI mean, why should it just be me? Why can\u2019t magic strike twice? Why can\u2019t she have an incredible experience with it in a way that audiences can relate all over again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGreer concurred, adding: \u201cIt\u2019s been ours for so long. Let\u2019s let someone else have a crack at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAt the time, there weren\u2019t plans for Garner and Greer, who were promoting their latest collaboration in Apple TV\u2019s \u201cThe Last Thing He Told Me,\u201d to reprise their roles.
