Lindell, however, disputes this, telling TPM it\u2019s simply \u201cfake news.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<!-- \/wp:post-content -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>As the Minnesota Star Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/mike-lindell-trumps-pick-for-governor-isnt-registered-to-vote-in-minnesota\/601868792\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> Friday, Lindell has an active voter registration in Texas. Lindell confirmed in a Tuesday interview with TPM that he has \u201cplaces in both Texas and Minnesota\u201d and that he moved to Texas in 2024 after he got married. He moved back to Minnesota in 2025, he said, to begin his gubernatorial run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Minnesota Secretary of State\u2019s office told the Star Tribune that Lindell \u201cdoes not have an active record\u201d in Minnesota.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cSo what the media did, the Star Tribune, whatever they\u2019re saying that I wasn\u2019t registered or didn\u2019t register, are wrong,\u201d Lindell insisted to TPM.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>According to Lindell, proof that he is, in fact, registered in the North Star state is his temporary Minnesota license that he got in September 2025, a copy of which he shared with TPM in a text message. (The document he shared with TPM had a September 19, 2025 application date and a Jan. 17, 2026 expiration date.)<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cThis was to register to vote and to get your driver\u2019s license,\u201d he said. \u201cBoth of them are done at the same time in Minnesota.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>In 2023, Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/minnesota\/news\/walz-signs-democracy-for-the-people-act-allowing-automatic-voter-registration-pre-registration-for-teens\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> into law a Democratic-led measure approving voter registration, among other election changes. Minnesota is one of 24 states that has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/elections-and-campaigns\/automatic-voter-registration\" target=\"_blank\">automatic voter registration<\/a>, which means that eligible voters who interact with certain agencies like the Department of Motor Vehicles are automatically registered to vote, unless they actively opt out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>He also told TPM that he is no longer registered to vote in Texas.\u00a0Texas\u2019 Secretary of State office did not immediately respond to TPM\u2019s attempts to try to confirm this claim from Lindell. <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no system all of a sudden in Texas where you last voted, where you get taken off those voter rolls, because all these states are doing it with computers and re-upping everybody,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cIf a person would move three times, you\u2019d probably be in three different states,\u201d he added. \u201cBut obviously, if you vote in more than one place, it\u2019s illegal. But, you know, this is what I\u2019ve been telling you guys. We\u2019ve been fighting these computers for years.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>A spokesperson for the Minnesota Secretary of State\u2019s office told TPM that if a person with a temporary driver\u2019s license in the state, they might, in fact, be eligible for automatic voter registration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cIf someone has that [a temporary license], then I must assume they have successfully applied for a driver\u2019s license in state,\u201d a spokesperson for the Minnesota Secretary of State said. \u201cIf when they did that, they showed citizenship affirming documentation, as I said, like a U.S. passport or birth certificate, then they would go into the queue for automatic voter registration.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>It\u2019s unclear whether or not he is actively registered to vote, though.
