The president&#8217;s net approval is currently lower than the lowest net approval former President <a data-autotag=\"bce3c45f-197d-4845-8248-87d4f3a737c8\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/politics\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Joe Biden<\/a> saw, which was -23%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Outside of weak approval ratings, Trump&#8217;s age has become a talking point among voters. Monday\u2019s poll showed Democrats leading the GOP by five percentage points in a generic Congressional ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">That same trend has held in other polls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">On July 16, an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/07\/16\/trump-approval-rating-new-poll-economy-iran\/90950223007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ipsos\/Washington Post poll<\/a> found Democrats leading Republicans by three percentage points, and a day later on July 17, CNBC\u2019s poll found Democrats leading by four points.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_gl gnt_em__el\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/picture-gallery\/news\/politics\/2025\/01\/20\/donald-trumps-47th-presidency-in-pictures\/77839237007\/\" data-t-l=\"\u2691g:l|l|c|view gallery:inline promo\" aria-label=\"View Gallery - Donald Trump's second term: Actions, travels of the 47th president\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"gnt_em_gl_i\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2026\/06\/17\/USAT\/90598381007-afp-2281436440.jpg?crop=3636,2046,x0,y189&amp;width=660&amp;height=372&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2026\/06\/17\/USAT\/90598381007-afp-2281436440.jpg?crop=3636,https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/2046,https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/x0,https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/y189&amp;width=1320&amp;height=744&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"372\"\/><svg class=\"gnt_em_gl_i_svg\"><use xlink:href=\"#gnt_svg_camera\"\/><\/svg><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_h2\">Trump underwater in the economy and immigration policies<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The economy and immigration are hot-button issues for respondents, many of whom don&#8217;t believe the president is doing a good job of handling either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.net\/documents\/econTabReport_ESdiNMa.pdf#page=18\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Monday\u2019s poll found<\/a> that 47% of respondents said the U.S. economy is in a poor state, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/yougov.com\/en-us\/articles\/55210-donald-trump-unpopularity-low-confidence-ice-socialism-july-17-20-2026-economist-yougov-poll\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">YouGov<\/a>; that is the highest level seen in any of their polls since 2023.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_x__c gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Immigration, usually Trump\u2019s strongest issue with voters, saw the president underwater, with 54% of respondents saying they disapproved of his handling of the issue.
