I think there\u2019s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics,\u201d Reynolds told moderator Nature Luvz You (via <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Da-zp5exwqg\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hobby Nonsense<\/a>). \u201cThere\u2019s certainly some stuff that I love that [Deadpool co-creator] Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible [and] Gerry Duggan, another friend and incredible comic writer, that we can put in. But then there\u2019s stuff upcoming. There\u2019s eventually, you know, remotely another \u2018Deadpool\u2019 film. So it\u2019s going to be great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMarvel did not immediately respond to <em>Variety<\/em>\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFollowing the huge success of 2024\u2019s \u201cDeadpool &amp; Wolverine,\u201d Reynolds told \u201cSunday Today\u201d in April that he\u2019s already <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/ryan-reynolds-deadpool-new-movie-supporting-character-1236725851\/\">started writing Deadpool\u2019s return<\/a> to the big screen, though he said the Merc With the Mouth wouldn\u2019t be the main focus. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI have some stuff kind of written, but I don\u2019t think I am ever going to center him again,\u201d Reynolds said. \u201cHe is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tReynolds has also downplayed rumors that the character makes a comeback in the upcoming \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d film, though speculation remains rife about the possibility. In a 2024 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/ryan-reynolds-interview-boy-band-film-ads-deadpool-1236085447\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Reynolds said he\u2019d love for the character to cross paths with the Avengers or X-Men \u2014 but doesn\u2019t want him to join either group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIf he becomes either, we\u2019re at the end,\u201d Reynolds said. \u201cDeadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider. His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can\u2019t be accepted. His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies.
