I\u2019m not from a musical household, and I even got kicked out of my GCSE music course because I was too far behind the rest of the class, which is kind of hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cThere are so many loser gatekeepers who want you to believe that you need 20-plus chords in a song for it to be worthy. In reality there are so many bangin\u2019 songs that literally are just two chords.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><figure style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/NMEAR_NME-GLASTO-2025-WET-LEG-LIVE-ANDY-FORD-3@2000x1270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1270\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wet Leg live at Glastonbury. Credit: Andy Ford for NME<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Despite that, she explained that it doesn\u2019t take a genius to play music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first song I ever tried to play on guitar was \u2018Molly\u2019s Chambers\u2019 by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kings-of-leon\"> Kings Of Leon<\/a> \u2013 back when the band was super-trashy and fun. It was a real epiphany to learn that you don\u2019t have to be a virtuoso guitarist to enjoy playing music with your friends,\u201d said Teasdale.<\/p>\n<p>Following her exit from GCSE music, Teasdale previously<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/big-reads\/wet-leg-cover-interview-2022-debut-album-chaise-longue-3184909\"> shared with <em>NME<\/em> in 2022<\/a> that she had \u201calways wanted to do music for a living, but it was making me really sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cThen I found this job [as a stylist] that I was doing before [we got signed] and I realised my day-to-day happiness had gone way up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Teasdale also previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/rhian-teasdale-feared-that-wet-legs-success-was-a-freak-incident-3921030\">shared with <em>NME<\/em> in 2025 that even after playing huge headline shows and booking mammoth festival slots over the years<\/a>, she is still caught off guard by the band\u2019s success, and initially doubted whether the first wave of success was set to last or not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just crazy to see your band\u2019s name next to legitimate artists who\u2019ve been in the industry for a long time and who\u2019ve maybe inspired you to make music,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were very much prepared for, \u2018The first album was just this mad, freak incident.\u2019 We weren\u2019t really expecting that for album two, so it\u2019s just really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the end of last year their second LP,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/lists\/end-of-year\/best-albums-2025-3915561\">\u00a0\u2018Moisturizer\u2019 was named as the 22nd best album of 2025<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<em>NME.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/wet-leg-moisturizer-review-3877297\">a four-star review of the record<\/a>,\u00a0<em>NME<\/em>\u00a0wrote: \u201cAfter the whirlwind that was Wet Leg\u2019s debut album, it would have been easy for the band to capitulate under the pressure or just play it safe and remake that record.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n  !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s)\n  {if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?\n  n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};\n  if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';\n  n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;\n  t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];\n  s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window, document,'script',\n  'https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/fbevents.js');\n  fbq('consent', 'revoke');\n  fbq('init', '370979561341328');\n  fbq('track', 'PageView');\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wet Leg\u2018s Rhian Teasdale has revealed that she got \u201ckicked out\u201d of her GCSE music course when she was in school.
