One of them, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ava-bunn\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ava-bunn\" data-tag=\"ava-bunn\">Ava Bunn<\/a><\/strong>, has been promoted to series regular for Season 2. McGinley<\/strong> (Perry Cox) and <strong>Judy Reyes<\/strong> (Carla Espinosa) who both are already series regulars on other series filming in Los Angeles, HBO\u2019s<em> Rooster <\/em>and ABC\u2019s <em>High Potential,<\/em> respectively. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cBoth shows have been amazing and working with us to get those performers over to Vancouver [where <em>Scrubs <\/em>films], Batra <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/04\/scrubs-ep-aseem-batra-season-2-original-characters-1236858214\/\">said in Apri<\/a>l. \u201cSo we\u2019ll do our very best to keep them in the fold, because they are part of this in a big way, but we\u2019re happy for their success in other areas, and we\u2019d just love them back as much as we can get them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWith Dr. Cox transitioning from a nemesis to patient of J.D., \u201che does need more conflict,\u201d Batra admitted to Deadline about Braff\u2019s character in April. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFlynn\u2019s The Janitor played that role alongside Dr. Cox on the original series but he was only in the Season 1 finale of the revival for a couple of scenes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThat will change with Flynn set to recur in Season 2 alongside another actor that guest starred in the Season 1 finale, Bilson. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBatra teased a Season 2 multi-episode arc for Bilson\u2019s hospital visitor Charlie who hit it off with J.D. after they met in the Season 1 finale. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe Rachel Bilson arc is going to also help us, because it\u2019s like, what feelings does that kick up for Elliot, for J.D., so we\u2019re really excited to have her back,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/04\/scrubs-showrunner-j-d-elliots-future-rachel-bilson-1236845685\/\">she said<\/a> in April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tJ.D. and Elliott rekindling their romance is still a possibility, Batra said at the time. Back as recurring are OG Robert Maschio, reprising his role as The Todd, Vanessa Bayer as HR awkward head Sibby, and Michael James Scott as sassy charge nurse Dubois. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHowever, not coming back is Dubois\u2019 partner in crime, fellow charge nurse, Raymond (X Mayo). The move is somewhat surprising as Dubois and Raymond were two of the revival\u2019s breakout characters. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAlso gone is a character that locked horns with J.D. as his main rival in Season 1, scheming attending physician Dr. Kevin Park (Booster).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMeanwhile, the hospital\u2019s Maintenance Guy (Darcy Michael) went from a J.D. friend to foe in the finale when The Janitor revealed him to be his son. Michael also is not listed among the returning Season 2 cast but his departure is not set in stone, sources said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe don\u2019t know if that\u2019s his son, he lies about everything. As Cox\u2019s long-time partner, Jordan is expected to be part of his medical journey storyline following his recent diagnosis. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHowever, the return of another popular OG cast member, Ken Jenkins, who played Dr. Bob Kelso for all nine seasons from Scrubs\u2018 original run, remains in limbo. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe 85-year old retired actor did not appear in Season 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cDr. Kelso will be back next year,\u201d<em> Scrubs<\/em> creator Bill Lawrence <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/02\/scrubs-revival-returing-cast-carla-cox-epiosode-number-kids-1236731607\/\">told Deadline in February<\/a>. \u201cIt just didn\u2019t work out this year but it will next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tJenkins has not been confirmed as a Season 2 guest star, with his potential comeback still up in the air.
