It was here at <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/tiff\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tiff\" data-tag=\"tiff\">TIFF<\/a> where Farrelly lit the wick on 2018\u2019s <em>Green Book<\/em>, which after winning the festival\u2019s Oscar bellwether People\u2019s Choice Award went on to win three Oscars including Best Picture. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<em>A Talent for Murder, <\/em>which FilmNation reps international sales on, stars Helen Mirren as <em>Ripley <\/em>author Patricia Highsmith. In the crime drama thriller, a mysterious young man from a New York publisher is sent to Switzerland to persuade her to pen one final installment of the Ripley anthology. Olivia Cooke, Alden Ehrenreich and Juliet Stevenson star. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<em>Onwards and Sideways <\/em>stars 3x Oscar nominee Laura Linney, Rhys Ifans, and Rory Kinnear in a story about a man and woman who are battling Parkinson\u2019s <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<em>Mistry Green, <\/em>which is repped by CAA Media Finance for domestic and NEON for foreign, stars Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick (doing double duty at this year\u2019s TIFF), Adam Driver, Topher Grace,  in pic about a gifted actress, who struggles with vices hindering her career revival. and Deaths of Wilson Shedd<\/em> which is generating some pre-festival sales buzz, Chase Infinit\u2019s next feature post her breakout <em>One Battle After Another, The Julia Set<\/em>; and the return of Rebel Wilson in the director\u2019s chair with the Jennifer Coolidge-Randall Park comedy <em>Girl Group <\/em>post her 2024 TIFF world premiere, <em>The Deb. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAmong the notable pics arriving at TIFF, which are premiering elsewhere is Jesse Eisenberg\u2019s Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti community theater dramedy, <em>The Debut, <\/em>which is getting an international premiere, in addition to the Canadian Premiere of Mike Leigh\u2019s <em>Tender Loving Care <\/em>starring Kate O\u2019Flynn, Marion Bailey and Paul Jesson; the North American premiere of Florian Zeller\u2019s Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Stephen Graham, Paul Dano, and Patrick Schwarzenegger thriller <em>Bunker<\/em>; and Danny Boyle\u2019s <em>Ink <\/em>which was recently announced as the Venice opener. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThere\u2019s also a number of Cannes\u2019 greatest hits from back in May here at TIFF: Palme d\u2019Or winner <em>Fjord, <\/em>as well as <em>La Bola Negra, All of a Sudden, Bitter Christmas, Club Kid, Coward, <\/em>and Ira Sack\u2019s <em>The Man I Love <\/em>to name a few. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe closing night film on Sept. 19 is Yan Lanouette Turgeon\u2019s sports drama <em>Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend <\/em>about the early years of Canadian racing legend Gilles Villeneuve. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOne of the pillars in the fall film festival troika alongside Venice and Telluride, TIFF is not only a place that\u2019s prime to launch awards season fare, but also mainstream fare given the cinephile sentiment of the city, i.e. Lauren Miller Rogen\u2019s second movie as a feature director, <em>Babies, <\/em>starring hubby Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Dan Stevens, Ed Helms, David Strathairn, Issa Rae, Ashely Park and Sharon Stone. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThere\u2019s a new film festival sales market launching with this year\u2019s edition which follows in the wake of the biggest acquisition at last year\u2019s fest, Curry Barker\u2019s $750K indie financed <em>Obsession <\/em>which played in the TIFF Midnight section, was snapped up by Focus Features for $15M for stateside and most foreign, and went on to gross $442.6M at the global box office; the most successful film festival acquisition at the box office besting 1999\u2019s <em>Blair Witch Project. <\/em> <\/p>\n<p
