\u2014 Juan Soto\u2019s precautionary placement into the DH spot for the past two games left the Mets without a spot for one of their key offseason additions.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the predicament team officials face on a daily basis trying to keep Jorge Polanco in the lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Polanco is limited to DH duty in his return from the injured list and likely won\u2019t be considered for first base action until at least next month.<\/p>\n<p>Soto left Thursday\u2019s game with calf discomfort, and the Mets weren\u2019t about to push him to play left field Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just want to ensure he\u2019s not carrying it with him past these couple of games,\u201d interim manager Andy Green said before the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/19\/sports\/nolan-mclean-dominates-phillies-to-continue-superb-mets-rookie-season\/\">Mets\u2019 6-1 victory over the Phillies<\/a>. \u201cWe would have liked to get [Polanco] back in the lineup today, but this is more about just ensuring this is behind [Soto].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polanco is 3-for-21 (.143) in six games since returning from the IL.<\/p>\n<figure
