href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/entertainment\/16689840\/jennifer-finch-l7-diagnosed-brain-cancer\/\" rel=\"\">battling an aggressive form of brain cancer<\/a>, according to a the news that Finch had been diagnosed with cancer and would be missing their upcoming <span>Last Hurrah Tour in October<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>She had suffered serious complications and required extensive treatment and in-home support, the band said.<\/p>\n<p>Posting to Finch\u2019s own Instagram, the band described her as a \u201ctrue original who lived entirely on her own terms\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impact she made on music, art and everyone lucky enough to know her cannot be measured\u201d, the post added.<\/p>\n<p>Finch helped power L7 through the 90s alternative-rock boom.<\/p>\n<p><span>She played base alongside guitarists Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner and Dee Plakas and helped define L7\u2019s place at the intersection of punk, metal<\/span> and grunge.<\/p>\n<p>Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, L7 became known for break-out tracks including \u201cPretend We\u2019re Dead,\u201d \u201cShove,\u201d \u201cAndres\u201d and \u201cFuel My Fire.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer joined L7 in 1986 and was known for performing barefoot and her wild stage presence.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16712465\" class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image Heavy (1992), and Hungry for Stink (1994), before she left the group in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to form two bands \u2014 OtherStarPeople and The Shocker \u2014 before reuniting with L7 in 2014, putting out Scatter The Rats, their first record in 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer had a friendship with Kurt Cobain\u2019s wife Courtney Love\u00a0dating\u00a0back to the early 80s when they played in the band Sugar Babylon.<\/p>\n<p>They resumed their working relationship in 1994 when Jennifer stepped in on bass to perform in Hole\u2019s Doll Parts video after the death of bassist Kristen Pfaff from an accidental heroin overdose.<\/p>\n<p>But Finch\u2019s creative work spanned far beyond the stage.<\/p>\n<p>She was also a photographer, writer and visual artist.<\/p>\n<p>The statement announcing her death also acknowledged \u201cthe extraordinary outpouring of love and support\u201d shown to Finch.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\"
