{"id":10478,"date":"2026-07-19T10:30:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T05:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=10478"},"modified":"2026-07-19T10:30:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T05:30:15","slug":"jason-rantz-dismisses-ice-critics-in-heated-cnn-table-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=10478","title":{"rendered":"Jason Rantz Dismisses ICE Critics In Heated CNN Table Debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-body\">\n<p>Republican radio show host <strong>Jason Rantz<\/strong> pushed back during a CNN debate on the claim that ICE is \u201crandomly killing people\u201d following fatal shootings in Maine and Texas.<\/p>\n<p>On CNN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tag\/cnn-table-for-five\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Table for Five<\/em><\/a> Saturday, the group debated responses to the ICE shootings and Rantz noted no ICE agents have been charged with murder after two people in two states were fatally shot in the span of a week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorenzo Salgado Araujo\u00a0<\/strong>was shot and killed by ICE during a July 7 traffic stop in Houston. Officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/cnn-airs-disturbing-video-of-houston-man-after-hes-fatally-shot-by-ice-i-want-to-warn-our-viewers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim<\/a> Araujo attempted to flee and used his vehicle as a weapon. <strong>Joan Sebastian Guerrero\u00a0<\/strong>was shot and killed by ICE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2026\/07\/17\/ice-shooting-maine-family-johan-duran-guerrero\/90954107007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in Biddeford, Maine<\/a>, on Monday, and officials also alleged the suspect attempted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/tv\/maine-residents-condemn-ice-tactics-on-cnn-after-fatal-shooting-this-is-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flee<\/a> the scene.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion Rantz blasted \u201csanctuary\u201d city laws and argued ICE has tried \u201cgetting ahead of the narrative\u201d only because of constant negative media attention.<\/p>\n<p>He conceded that ICE should be \u201cbetter at acknowledging when mistakes are made:\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I think part of getting ahead of the narrative is because any time there\u2019s any kind of action, the response has always been that ICE is 100% to blame and that the person who might have ended up becoming a victim or was the one who was the target for a reason is somehow playing no role whatsoever in this. In both of these cases we heard from ICE suggesting that both of the people who were shot and killed fled and they used their vehicle to flee. We should be having a conversation, at least in part, to say, do not do that. Stop doing that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Sara Sidner<\/strong>, filling in for<strong> Abby Phillip<\/strong>, pushed back, noting that \u201cunlike the movies,\u201d you cannot shoot someone simply for fleeing.<\/p>\n<p>Communications strategist and CNN commentator <strong>Xochitl Hinojosa<\/strong> argued ICE does not use proper \u201cuse of force\u201d or deescalation methods that other agencies use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t understand why the FBI, DEA, and other law enforcement agencies aren\u2019t out killing innocent people. I mean, that is just the reality. They\u2019re out with killing the bad guys,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cari Champion<\/strong> then jumped in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo her point, this is the first time we\u2019re seeing this. Other agencies aren\u2019t just randomly killing people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Rantz diagreed, but Champion pushed back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are actually randomly killing people,\u201d Champion said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is random? They\u2019re going around and they\u2019re choosing people that they\u2019re going to kill?\u201d Rantz asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, because they do have a quota in place of 2,000 arrests per day. They are actually probably not trained to do their job effectively in the way in which they should. And they should be partnering with other agencies so that this job can be done effectively,\u201d Champion shot back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow is it random?\u201d Rantz asked, rejecting Champion\u2019s take the fatalities amounted to \u201cmurder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s your definition of murder?\u201d Champion asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purposeful taking of life. That\u2019s unlawful.
