Christopher Reeve was the perfect Superman, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/spiderman-tobey-maguire-sam-raimi-best-peter-parker\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tobey Maguire was the perfect Peter Parker<\/a>, Wesley Snipes was the perfect Blade \u2014 but that\u2019s not always the case. For every Robert Downey, Jr. or Hugh Jackman, who just felt right as Iron Man and Wolverine, you get a dozen castings that just feel wrong: Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Topher Grace as Venom, Shaquille O\u2019Neal as Steel, George Clooney as Batman.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><\/p>\n<p>When they do get the casting just right, it\u2019s even rarer that they get a proper sendoff. Patrick Stewart\u2019s Charles Xavier has been killed off on three separate occasions, and they\u2019re still <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/x-men-97-live-action-avengers-doomsday-costumes\/\" target=\"_blank\">bringing him back in <em>Avengers: Doomsday<\/em><\/a>. Jackman got the perfect ending in <em>Logan<\/em>, but then came back in <em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine<\/em>. Chris Evans\u2019 Captain America got the perfect ending in <em>Avengers: Endgame<\/em>, but they\u2019re bringing him back, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/grant-gustin-flash-casting-stephen-amell-response\/\" target=\"_blank\">Grant Gustin was about as perfect a casting choice for the Flash<\/a> as you could hope for. The CW\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/db\/tv-show\/the-flash\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Flash<\/strong><\/a><\/em> show didn\u2019t have a smooth run \u2014 there were definitely a few ups and downs \u2014 but Gustin was always the ideal Barry Allen. The CW\u2019s Arrowverse did its own <em>Endgame<\/em> with <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/how-to-watch-crisis-on-infinite-earths-order\/\" target=\"_blank\">the \u201cCrisis on Infinite Earths\u201d crossover<\/a>, pulling together <em>The Flash<\/em>, <em>Arrow<\/em>, <em>Supergirl<\/em>, <em>Batwoman<\/em>, and <em>Legends of Tomorrow<\/em> for some meta multiversal mayhem.<\/p>\n<p>The Flash\u2019s \u201cCrisis on Infinite Earths\u201d storyline involved Gustin\u2019s Barry meeting Ezra Miller\u2019s Barry from the DCEU. This storyline was way ahead of the curve on this kind of interdimensional crossover; this was before Tom Holland had shared the screen with the other two Spider-Men in <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrisis on Infinite Earths\u201d as a whole was meant to be a new beginning for the franchise, but due to a number of factors out of the creators\u2019 hands \u2014 including the CW deprioritizing original scripted content \u2014 it was actually the beginning of the end. In hindsight, ending with \u201cCrisis\u201d and all those fun crossovers would\u2019ve been perfect. He\u2019s a flagship DC hero, so he\u2019ll undoubtedly be a part of the DCU\u2019s Justice League lineup when it finally comes together. But it probably won\u2019t be Gustin or Miller or any of the other actors who have played the role in the past, either in live-action or animation. Gunn\u2019s DCU is a fresh start, so it\u2019ll probably look for a fresh Flash.<\/p>\n<p>But I\u2019ll never say never, because Gunn has made some really radical choices with this reboot, and bringing back Gustin to play an older, more mature Barry is the kind of big swing he\u2019s been taking. <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/james-gunn-dcu-teen-titans-blue-beetle-2027\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gunn is bringing back Xolo Maridue\u00f1a to play Blue Beetle<\/a> in <em>Man of Tomorrow<\/em>, so it\u2019s not too far-fetched to picture him bringing back Gustin to play Barry.
